While it will probably be ten more years before California High-Speed Rail has an operating line between San Francisco and Anaheim, the state legislature and Governor Brown are already wrangling over legislative oversight and the High-Speed Rail Authority.

Keeping Communities Intact

It may be too little too late, but HUD approval of resident preference in housing low income seniors is a step in the right direction. What is needed, however, is a major federal initiative to build low income housing for the millions of Americans displaced by venture capitalists. That, and a New Deal-type comprehensive mobilization of federal resources to provide public work alternatives for those unable to find market sector opportunities.
