Cable Car 11--restored to its original livery of Tuscan Red, tan and white--originally ran on the Sacramento-Clay line, from the Ferry Building to Golden Gate Park. After the 1906 fire, it ran on the Powell Street line.
San Francisco's Superfund site at Hunters Point Shipyard will not be turned into 12,000 housing units any time soon if Supervisor Malia Cohen has her way. Outraged that the radioactive site--after decades of work--has yet to be cleaned up to the highest standards, the discovery that cleanup data was falsified by the Navy's contractor has prompted Cohen to call for a hearing on the project.
Taking Car 1 to the Giants home opener is cool, and it being the 60th anniversary of the SF Giants, it reminds me that I first became a fan in 1962, the year I played short stop in our Little League Baseball all-star game. For those of us who were ecstatic when the San Francisco Giants won their first World Series in 2010, the note about the Giants losing the 1962 World Series in the 9th inning of game 7 makes the Giants 2010, 2012 and 2014 championships all the more memorable.
