The Long Haul

Congresswoman Jackie Speier retires in a year, but she still has a voice, and is willing to use it. During her time in office, she has championed the advancement of women in the military and at home, most notably in giving women sexually assaulted by fellow service personnel the support they need and arguing for the expansion of pre-K child care nationwide. Observing that these types of achievements often take decades to accomplish, she notes that, "You have to be in it for the long haul."
