Project Roomkey

Hotel housing--part of Project Roomkey, the California initiative against homelessness--is being phased out in San Francisco. Initiated to provide shelter during the pandemic, the statewide program has provided a steadying effect for families and individuals displaced in part due to economic impacts of COVID closures. While San Francisco has taken an economic hit from the loss of conventions and international tourism, the hotel housing for shelter-in-place continues protecting the health of a couple thousand residents still seeking permanent shelter.
