While BART is maxed, Bay Area ferries are just getting started, with a projected five-fold increase in ferry ridership as the Transportation Authority and Port of San Francisco plan for expansion goes into high gear. The new Richmond Ferry, that went into operation in January, is a resounding success. Over the next fifteen years, the ferry system will grow from 16 vessels to 44.
