Bring Your Waders

Little Venice, site of the seawall breach on the Embarcadero waterfront, will likely get a $425 million upgrade to the "cracking and crumbling" seawall. The bond is considered to merely be a "down payment" on a multi-decades strengthening project against earthquakes and rising seas. The landfill on mudflats between Fisherman's Wharf and Mission Creek are scheduled for major repairs. The Ferry Building and Transbay Tube are sites of the initial focus--a plan that Port officials say could cost $5 billion.
